The Bhuj House

Without a doubt the best place to stay in Bhuj. It’s a Parsi house built in 1894 by the Bhujwala family, one of the few original Parsi families of the town. Parsis are a community of the ancient Zoroastrian faith who migrated from Persia (Iran) to Gujarat centuries ago.

In the courtyard there’s a large table where all guests eat together, and that’s the real gift of staying here. People don’t come to Kutch by accident, and sharing conversations with travellers from all over the world around delicious food was wonderful.

The rooms are beautiful. We stayed in Jafri, which I highly recommend.

I also had the chance to meet the owner, Jehan, an incredible and very human person. The entire team at Bhuj House, led by Mukesh, are extremely kind.

The house of MG

Beautiful heritage hotel in the heart of Ahmedabad’s old city, very well located for exploring on foot. A special highlight is the rooftop restaurant, Agashiye, where you can have an exceptional Gujarati thali. One of the best meals we had in India, and worth visiting even if you’re not staying here.
