Ariadna Soler x OUTLIERS

MEET ARIADNA

My name is Ariadna Soler, and I was born in Barcelona in 1981. I design custom-made trips with my travel agency Mundo Expedición. My dream come true has been making travel my way of life.

My happiest moments are always about discovering new places, being surrounded by nature, and engaging with different cultures.

I firmly believe that we must travel responsibly, and I'm concerned about mass tourism. Our industry has a great responsibility to create minimal negative impact on ecosystems, and as a travel agency, we are committed to generating responsible tourism with the intention of making it a tool for positive global change.

MEMORABLE TRIPS

FRENCH POLYNESIA — I was captivated by the locals' respect for nature. Arriving there feeling incredibly stressed, I found an immense sense of calm. The connection with nature is truly profound.

BOTSWANA — It's one of the best safari experiences you can have, offering incredible proximity to wildlife. It’s also one of the most environmentally conscious countries. Since it’s one of the more expensive destinations, there are fewer tourists, allowing you to be alone in your car, watching the animals in their natural habitat.

MADAGASCAR — I fell in love with its authenticity. While it seemed like a logistically challenging destination, this is exactly why it has little tourism and remains so genuine. The people live much as they have for centuries.

INDIA — I went on a scouting trip, and initially, it wasn’t a destination that excited me much, but I was absolutely enchanted. It felt like an incredibly stimulating place, bursting with colors, scents, and sounds. It was unlike anywhere I had ever been, with a striking personality.

NAMIBIA — The landscapes are a spectacle. I never expected the desert to impact me so visually, with its breathtaking sand mountains. This destination is far from overcrowded, which I really appreciated. Driving there is a wonderful experience because it’s a very safe country, allowing for an intriguing road trip.

FAVOURITE HOTELS

I like accommodations with soul, and I believe that it is the people who make the difference.

White Water — California

Gomoti Pains — Botswana

Phum Baitang — Cambodia

Lewa Wilderness — Kenya

Six Senses Fort Barwara — India

Beniya Mukayu — Japan

Bakuba Lodge — Madagascar

The Rooster Antiparos — Greece

GOMOTI PLAINS

The staff was incredible, and the safari experience was simply unforgettable. The area is a bit hard to reach—you have to fly in by small plane and then drive for a while, so there’s no one else around.

I arrived just as the sun was setting, and our guide asked if we wanted to watch the sunset with a drink or go see a lion family. Of course, we chose to see the lion family. When we arrived, they were lying together, and it was such a magical moment that I couldn’t help but cry. As night began to fall, the colors were spectacular, and the lion family was there, completely relaxed.

PHUM BAITANG

Although it is a luxury hotel, it is seamlessly integrated with the surroundings and the daily activities of the community.

LEWA WILDERNESS

Lewa is renowned for having one of the strongest populations of white and black rhinoceros in Kenya, amongst a number of other pioneering conservation initiatives that guests are supporting with each visit.

We were confined for an entire day due to flooding in Kenya after five years without rain in that area. This gave me the opportunity to truly experience the hotel, which usually doesn’t happen during a safari since you spend many hours outside, and I enjoyed it very much.

The conservation project is remarkable. There are so many rhinos that you don’t even have to search for them.

SIX SENSES FORT BARWARA

A spectacular 14th-century fort located very close to Ranthambore. I had one of the best Ayurveda experiences guided by a specialist doctor who is part of the hotel staff. Every treatment, from the massage to simply conversing with her, is a special experience.

TRAVEL WISH LIST

NEW ZEALAND — I absolutely love destinations where nature is abundant, and that why I’m eager to explore this beautiful country.

CHILE — I’m also excited to visit for its natural beauty. It’s a journey I’m planning with great enthusiasm.

GUATEMALA — I believe that some Central American destinations lack the cultural depth that Guatemala possesses. I’m drawn to places where I can immerse myself in a different culture and appreciate local craftsmanship.
