Clemente Vergara x OUTLIERS
MEET clemente
My name is Clemente Vergara, and I was born in Valencia, though I’ve been living in Barcelona for 15 years now. I’m an environmental engineer and a photographer, currently managing both of these professions in parallel.
My passion for photography emerged relatively late in life as a way to channel my deep interest in architecture. I started by planning architectural trips and routes where I would rent a car and drive long distances, stopping at my favorite sites to photograph them. This passion eventually turned into a career, and now I’m specialized in interior and travel photography.
In addition, I work as a sustainability consultant, helping companies to develop their environmental strategies by incorporating concepts such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, circular economy, and impacts on natural capital. I find it important to balance the artistic and creative aspects of photography with a more scientific perspective—one that is aligned with the pressing environmental challenges we face today.

FAVOURITE STAYS
Neuendorf House — Mallorca
Arcosanti — Arizona
La Tourette — France
Riad no37 — Marrakech
Neuendorf House
I was lucky enough to spend a few days with friends in this house by architects John Pawson and Claudio Silvestrin. It’s an ode to minimalism—a place that brings you into contemplation and invites you to a sense of peace and calm.
Mallorca
Arcosanti
I rented a room in this unfinished experimental city, designed by Paolo Soleri in the 1970s. It’s a unique project aimed at exploring the concept of Arcology (architecture and ecology), combining social interaction and accessibility in an urban setting with ecological principles.
Arizona, USA
La Tourette
This is a convent and church designed by Le Corbusier. I chose it for the experience of sleeping in such an iconic building and for the chance to understand Le Corbusier’s architecture from the inside. It’s definitely not the most comfortable place you’ll ever sleep in.
France
Riad no37
A former royal palace that’s been restored with a minimalist and Nordic touch. I loved their engagement with local artisans and materials, and they even offer rooms for artist residencies.
Marrakech
